First Post!
SO just setting out how this is going to work - the aim of this blog is to use myself as somewhat of a guinea pig in testing various methods of migraine relief / treatment / prevention. I've just been diagnosed, but it's a sort of retrospective diagnosis as I've been having them for about a decade, just undiagnosed. I had previously thought they were "periods of exhaustion" as I knew nothing about the misunderstood term of "migraine". I recently have had a rare disease called anti NMDA-receptor encephalitis so have been under the care of neurologists, which is why I've newly received this diagnosis of migrainous history.
Recovery from NMDA encephalitis (which I'm going to refer to in this blog as simply "NMDA" which is medically inaccurate, but has already stuck in my head as how I refer to it, oops) is unpredictable and unknown, some people take years before they are able to recover brain function, whereas I seem to have taken months - but as my doctors have recently explained to me, I'm not really recovered. As this recent 'relapse' has shown. So recovery from NMDA is an underlying presence in my migraine-related experimentation, but in what way it affects it, really I don't know.
So I'm going to start with diet, and take things in 2-week stints, as I've heard this is recommended for identifying food intolerance, and I feel is a good time frame generally to identify effects from any changes in / additions to diet, lifestyle etc
Its also worth noting that I'm recovering from 2 recent surgeries on my ovaries, one laparotomy and one laparoscopy, so I'm going to start with dietary changes first, as I'm still physically recovering.
I'll write posts which I'll collate into sections ie. Diet, Medication, Lifestyle etc for easy reference, once I've got some info to work with.
I'm currently in the planning / info collecting stage, as it's currently a Saturday, and as we all know, any and all life changes need to start on a Monday! So I'll have a plan in place tomorrow, with a view to starting the first 2-week-stint on this coming Monday.
Bye for now!
